Strategic Financial Planning for Municipal Government

Strategic Planning is an indispensable process by which local government leaders plan for the future success of their communities. It involves developing a vision for the municipality’s future and then determining the necessary goals, priorities, and action strategies needed to achieve that vision. A strategic plan serves as a community's roadmap and is used to prioritize initiatives, resources, goals, and department operations and projects. The strategic plan is a big-picture document directing efforts and resources toward a clearly defined objective. A well designed strategic plan includes tangible and measurable results-oriented goals for implementation. This session will focus on the importance of strategic planning within the municipal arena.
